Falling Away

Published on 27 November 2024 at 14:19

Today I am learning to fall away.

The Lord is leading me down in unknown path.

With every step and I am beginning to let go of old mindsets, patterns of behaviors, and control.

I don't understand God's ways, but I know God's way is best.

I have taken myself in this life as far I can go.

I have seen and done enough to cover a lifetime.

If I want the new thing that I have not seen or heard or have even imagined,

I must go against my own understanding. I must embrace of new way of living. I must not resist and lean into where God is taking me.

I have to let the me I know and the life I know fall away to step into new life with Him.

God knows what's best for me in this season of my life.

I believe this is why many of us remain in the same prism of life, have much of the same, limited experiences. We stick to what we know or what's readily available to us in a tangible form.

We are unwilling to truly let go and abandon our ways to adopt new ways.

What if what is needed to live life in the kingdom of God in your true identity in Christ requires more than just changes but a total transformation which will mean a complete falling away of who you believe that you are and how you know to live?

What if the many of the world that we have been taught by have it absolutely wrong and we have to learn a different way?

This we know. But how much are we willing to go a different route?

Diet, exercise, work, relational dynamics, entertainment, information, rest- I am beginning to see that much of that is taught by this world that is meant to support the system of this world, who by the way, Satan is the ruler of. (John 12:31)

It is meant to keep you so consumed and preoccupied with self, others. Its fruit is vanity, compulsivity, exhaustion, over consumption, stress, illness, distractions, all meant to take you outside of:

-who you truly are in Christ

-seeking God first

-pursuing the plans and purposes of God for your life

-entering into the Lord's peace, rest and abundant life.

Is this why we must lose our life to actually gain it as living the ways of this worldly construct is not true living at all but struggling to remain afloat as the enemy is pulling you down to death in every aspect of your being emotionally, physically, mentally, spiritually?

Is this why Jesus calls us to "go away with Him" ?(Mark 6:31)

I am reflecting on my life and realizing that the reason it has gone in the direction it has thus far is because I have been mostly leaning on my own understanding.

Its time I lean on God's knowledge of who I am and what I should do.

So little by little, day by day, I am allowing the old me to fall away and am embracing the new me God is constructing through instruction.

I am a new creation in Jesus and it is time I live into it.

From Jesus

Be willing to step out of your comfort zone and to try new things to become someone new. If you want new life, you must let go of the old. This has been a constant theme in your life-letting go. I can't give to you unless you let go of what you have. I am proud of the progress you are making. Just keep leaning into the changes until they become your new way of life. Seek and follow the steps I lay out before you and know they are all for your good.

Question of the day

Have you allowed yourself to fully let go of what was to embrace what is?

Are you willing to live life anew as Jesus leads you?

Will you embrace new routines, mindsets, behaviors as the Holy Spirit leads?

Consider, we lose our life to gain a life. Jesus may be shaking things up and requiring something more or simply different of you because it is a part of the new life He wants to give you. Trust Him. Take it.

Scripture

Matthew 16:24-26 The Message (MSG)

Then Jesus went to work on his disciples. “Anyone who intends to come with me has to let me lead. You’re not in the driver’s seat; I am. Don’t run from suffering; embrace it. Follow me and I’ll show you how. Self-help is no help at all. Self-sacrifice is the way, my way, to finding yourself, your true self. What kind of deal is it to get everything you want but lose yourself? What could you ever trade your soul for?

Matthew 16:25 The Passion Translation (TPT)

For if you choose self-sacrifice and lose your lives for my glory, you will continually discover true life. But if you choose to keep your lives for yourselves, you will forfeit what you try to keep.

Matthew 16:25 English Standard Version 2016 (ESV)

For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.
